Staff AccountantMetairie, LA

The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounting functions as delegated by their Manager.  He or she will be able to complete a multitude of accounting functional activities.  They will follow established accounting processes and procedures.  They will have a solid accounting background, skills and experience and be able to work with minimal supervision.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follows and executes established accounting processes and procedures
• Manages daily and monthly accounting and reporting activities
• Creates journal entries and makes postings to the general ledger
• Assists with month end accounting close processes
• Prepares other monthly analytical reports as directed
• Prepares analysis schedules
• Performs daily and monthly account analysis and reconcilements
• Analyzes general ledger account balances
• Completes routine accounting assignments
• Answers financial and accounting questions from other departments
• Performs all other duties as assigned

 
SKILLS
• Solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures
• Ability to communicate with diverse people in multiple business situations
• Self starter that needs minimum supervision
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word

 
EXPERIENCE
• 1-3 years accounting experience; insurance industry experience preferred
 
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Software EngineerMetairie, LA

The Software Engineer reviews, analyzes and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.  The Software Engineer requires minimal guidance in the described processes and is a seasoned problem solver.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establishes and maintains computers software within the company’s business technology portfolio
• Works closely with the business community in ensuring the application software is meeting company needs
• Recommend appropriate hardware and software to perform necessary functions in an operational reliable environment
• Leads programming code ‘walkthroughs’
• Assists programmers in development and support of application business software
• Responsible for the ongoing production environment of applications software including daily batch processing
• Performs on-call duties
• Assist in training users in the toolkit software operations
• Performs all other duties as assigned
 
SKILLS
• Must be sure services and functions are provided accurately and on a timely basis
• Must ensure that all production ‘batch’ programs are run timely and correctly
• Must be able to exercise independent judgment
• Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time and balance priorities
• Must have the ability to apply creative techniques in his/her work and have the ability to isolate, analyze and resolve problems
• Maintain strict confidentiality on all files and records
• Must possess strong oral communication skills
• Must be a team player and have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and others
 
EXPERIENCE
• 5 plus years experience in computer programming
• Microsoft based application development
• Property insurance experience preferred
 
EDUCATION
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology
